Lute FP This is excellent. There’s a desperate honesty that seeps through in the vocals, recalling one of my favorite gothic Americana bands Sixteen Horsepower. The music is equal parts classic metal, psych rock, and alternative pop. And maybe some desert rock is in there, too. Sometimes I think I’m hearing Portugal the Man, and others early 80s British metallers Witch Cross.

Nix Atmospheric enough to drive to, hard enough to rock to, just slow and chill enough to sleep to. Excellent stuff. Favorite track: Second Rate Gods.

JoopKonraad Second Rate Gods starts out like a slow cowboy song to accompany one as he and his trusty horse treks across the prairie, onwards, towards a battle with a magical gunslinger or indeed a Second Rate God. Shifting color later in the track only helps paint a darker blood red sky. It feels like a hymn for a barbarously and apocalyptic mythology we are still unaware of. And longing to know more about…

I don’t know how this is a debut album, it’s ridiculously accomplished in every way, an astounding feat of talent. This is hard rock, with respectful nods to past legends, touched with expansive desert rock, throughout remaining intelligent, thoughtful, contemplative, upbeat. Guitar solos, remember them?
